Hajj is obligatory for all physically and financially capable Muslims. Each year, hundreds of thousands of Muslims from all over the world travel to Mecca to perform the Hajj.
In Islam, there is no minimum age for Hajj, but it is recommended that a person has physical and mental ability before performing Hajj.
The photos captured of this year's Hajj show the presence of children under 12. The youngest person who attended the Hajj, from Iran, was a two-year-old child from Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Children who have not yet reached the age of maturity are exempted from performing Hajj rituals. It is not mandatory to perform any of the Shariah obligations until reaching the age of maturity. In addition, people with mental disabilities are also exempted from performing Hajj.
